    Default Black-Necked Stilt

Nothing like a bird glowing in the sweet light just before sunset! I wasn't sure which horizon line to use, and I'm interested in some feedback. Thanks!

Doug, wonderful image and beautiful subject. Love the layers of BG and the raised bent leg a nice touch. Looks like it needs a half degree of ccw rotation and did you try bringing a little more detail out of the primaries? They look real dark. Congrats

That is some sweet light. I kinda like the comp as presented (needs a little CCW rotation) The three evenly spaced bands of color that make up the FG/BG tie-in with the three colors of the Stilt.

Great light Doug! Your exp balance between the blacks and whites is very good! I agree with the CCW rotation. In my repost, I rotated CCW about 1.26 degrees, using the dark line in the water to the right and behind the bird. I attempted to bring out some detail in the primary feathers with SH? Noise crept in and was sort of tamed with Noise Ninja!. I also QM'ed out some of the distracting elements (IMO0 in the far BG.

Now that I look, the BG seems a bit noisy. I didn't process these areas?

    Hi Doug!
Sweet image with one of my very favourite birds! I like Dan's repost - it needed the rotation IMHO. I'm on my laptop so I can't tell if there is any noise. Love that golden light...

Hi Doug, your Stilts look exactly the same as ours over here. Lovely warm light, especially showing on the top of the wing on the darker plumage - you know you got it right when you see that. Amazing colours throughout. I agree with Dan's rotation, I feel he got it spot on. I would maybe run another round of NR on the BG. Still, well captured.

Sweet Light Doug! Agree with rotation......maybe a bit of NR on the BG...but all in all very well composed.

wonderful light doug .. bit softer to me and a CCW change posted is better.. well exposed white and black with the iris visible prominently.

Sweet shot Doug, love the red eye and the HA, light is warm and soft and angle is best, BG is nice too. I like the Dan's repost which takes care of rotation, I would also sharpen a bit more on the primaries.

    Excellent

Dan's repost looks good. Rotation mentioned and fixed. May be a little more sharpening. Lovely bird.

I was using evaluative metering Indranil. I rarely use any other type of metering.

This photography just absolutely kicks butt. The leveling and BG do look better on repost. The colors, details, sharpness and pose of this picture are just amazing. It's one of my favorites. THey are simply stunning birds and you made this one look larger than life.
