This was a bunch of grapes that were apparently left behind during the Fall Harvest. I was a little surprised at the lack of DOF (see grapes) considering I was at F/10 . . .any ideas? 34MM, F/10, 1/640s, exp. comp. -.3
Hi Buddy, Nice composition and great subject. If it were me I would use a much larger f-stop such as f/22 or f/32. I would also use a little fill flash that would add some light to the darks and allow you to use a more appropriate f/stop and a slower shutter speed. I am sure others will have some valuable recommendations...Good job!
Hi Buddy - to me it looks like the point of focus was on the leaf in the top left - hard to judge how far behind the grapes are - here is a online DOF calculator http://www.dofmaster.com/dofjs.html.
The mixed lighting is always going to be difficult - some flash may have helped.
Dof at close up is not much at all, check the calculator suggested by Lance. If you have an iPhone there is a neat application !!!
As presented would try cropping from bottom and left for a tighter view, will do away with distracting areas and focus on the subject. Fill light is always an option but sort of like the mysterious look to the image !!!
Hi Buddy,
I like the combination of colors...agree on the techs. and the good advice given...the depth of field calculator is a handy little tool to have...looking forward to your next one...
