    Default Summer Tanager Set-up

This image was made while I was assisting Alan Murphy on his Texas Hill Country "Set-up" Workshop. During the down times Alan and I would go out scouting for birds, perches, and locations on the ranch. Alan recognized the faint call of the Summer Tanager and once we spotted him we brought the group over, setup some perches nearby, waited for the light to get good, got under our blinds and attracted him with a call.

Beautiful bird, pose and perch. I like the clean BG and the clear eye.

Beautiful bird, good pose, sharpness, setup and BG. I only wish the tip of the tail and the branch would not merge and might remove one of the catchlights.

Great control of the reds and I love the open beak. Perch is the perfect size for this guy and the green BG really makes him pop. Wouldn't change a thing. Congrats

The bird looks great; sharp, great eye contact, nice open beak, and good detail in the reds. I do wish that the tip of the tail feathers wasn't hidden, but I'd be very happy with this one!
