    Default Autumn

What can I say? I find myself totally smitten by Topaz. This image was originally shot as the fog was lifting early Saturday morning in the Delaware Water Gap NRA.

Processing included exposure, blacks, clarity and vibrance adjustments in Lightroom followed by a jaunt into CS4 and a tour through Topaz Adjust, Detail and Simplicity.

Ed, It sure looks like you are having a blast w/ the filter bundle! I would have preferred a bit more room on the bottom so the tree trunks weren't cut off. I also think more room on the right would have put your main subject in a better position and you may not have clipped the tree on the edge of the frame. I do like the vibrant autumn colors and the fog is a nice touch. I also like the effect on the foliage.

    Good morning, Denise.

First off, don't make a special trip to the North Shore ponds. It looks like the weekend is going to be a stinker! So we probably won't head down. And next weekend I am off to Cuyahoga Valley National Park (OH) for a Tony Sweet Workshop.

Now regarding this image... I understand your suggestions. I cropped the image this way for a couple of compositional reasons that can best be explained by saying that I cropped out elements which I felt detracted more from the image than helped the image. To me, the there were three elements that I wanted to emphasize - the tree in the LR, the color on the mountain and those two wispy patches of fog.

Ed, Tony Sweet's workshop-Lucky!! That should be good.
The tree in the LRC has the base clipped and I felt that was a strong focal point in the image and clipping it makes the image look cut off. It also brings your eye to the half clipped tree next to it. But it's your image and you can accept my feedback or not.

Hey Denise, hope you've battened down the hatches there along the coast. This weather is way to ugly for this time of year.

Anyway, I accept your critique Denise. I ALWAYS do. Sometimes I make changes based on it. Sometimes I don't. And sometimes I can't. This one falls into the last category. There is no right to the right. And if I go lower I start to introduce a macadam walkway slanting from the L to R. OK, I could clone in some grass over the walkway I guess.

Hey Ed, I was in a hurry when I wrote that and re-readng it I realized it sounded worse then I meant. I guess what I was trying to say is-It is your image and they were my thoughts, they don't necessarily have to be your thoughts.
Anyway, I'm working late trying to get everything ready for the lousy weather that is already here!!
