Out my archives - taken in Cape Town last December at one of the local birding spots. This little guy was having a good shake. The orange in the water is the reflection from some buildings surrounding the water.
Is this a big crop Bro? Just feels that way, but maybe wrong. I love the pose and this is an example (IMHO) when man-made features are providing a wonderful, natural looking color to the water. Congrats overall Stu!
Stuart, You always seem to post some unique looking birds-I look forward to seeing them. Looks a bit small to comment on but the head does look sharp and I like the composition.
Hi Stuart, I too like those color reflections in the water, and a sharp capture of the bird too. I only wished you had been at a lower angle for the shot, but you might not have had a choice.
Would love to see this a lot larger. Cool pose, wing position, and water. It's nice that the head is set against the far wing.
What's with the irregular white stripe on the belly?

Great water colors. Also, the bird seems sharp and you captured a nice pose. This white stripe (reflection?) across its belly is a bit distracting though...

Artie, sorry - did see your question earlier. I must be honest, they are always swimming when I capture these guys, so I would have never noticed the white stripe. Im assuming its part of the plumage, as I havent touched, added or messed up on the image. Great observation from your side.
No problem. I agree with John that it is likely a reflection.
