Desmond, I'm, not the bird expert, but the red leaf in the lower left does keep catching my eye and i wish the head was looking a little more to the left so I could see the beak. I may be way off on the HA since I'm not the expert, but I figure I might as well jump in with my feelings. I can't wait to hear the experts feelings. Congrats on the capture.......

Never heard of it even. Neat to get a capture like this Desmond, I would have thought it was a sparrow:)

Hi Desmond - A rare one - take what you can get for sure. Great to get a shot.

Red leaf does draw my eye - and in a perfect world a bit more of a head turn would let us see a bit more of the eye and beak.

    Good show :)

You want to see those profile shots, with clear eye and bill? Sure, I have them, too. Shots, from the left, right, top, and behind, with bird hopping, wings and tail spread, etc. ;)

But, hey, if you can see the bird and the red leave, you are seeing what I want you to see, i.e., that the bird was looking at the leave, not just a bird with a thousand mile stare. :)

That's only a female and so the look is kind of plain. A male would be better. But, even local experienced birders did not expect to see this bird here in BC and so, even the background and the light is far from ideal, I and many will gladly take it :D

Thank you for looking and leaving the comments !!

If it is a shot of a rare bird, might include in the main heading and state "Record Shot Only" or something like that, just a suggestion.

TFS image of rare bird, great capture - you must have been excited. Agree w/Al different crop would put more focus on subject.

Why? I don't see any reason to state that. Just because it's a photograph of a rare bird does not makes it a record shot only, nor would a photograph of an exotic bird makes it an award winning photograph rather than a record shot. But if the viewer sees it as purely a records shot, fine with me, too. I have that record, you don't :D:D

Sure, it's a photograph and by default, it is a record :)

Thanks for the comment though, Jeff !

Hey Desmond, congratulations on capturing so many images of a rare bird!
Your comment about the leaf got me wondering... I know very little about bird anatomy, but if the bird's beak is pointing at the leaf, isn't it likely that it is actually looking somewhere else?
