    Default Red-Tailed Hawk Portrait

This is a portrait of the hawk featured in http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ad.php?t=47328.

To my amazement, it landed about 30ft away from my location and started to devour its prey. Unfortunately, it did so with its back to me (and the sun) and slightly downhill from my position. So, I couldn't actually record the action but only capture it when the hawk raised its head to check on me.

Hope you like it. Thanks in advance. JR

Nice one John. Pity about missing the action but you definitely got the "checking you out over my shoulder" look. The light looks great as does the BG.

Stunning light, pin sharp, and just love the IQ in this. Great image John.

Super moment you captured! Great to get that close to a wild one. Might crop some off the top. Bob

Terrific eye contact and good use of an awkward light angle John.
Perhaps you could try selectively lightening the dark upper right quadrant of the background?

    John:

The light makes it, plus perfect HA, attractive bird, good tech. etc :)

Oh, did I mention the killer eye?

    Very well done.
