    Default Winter Memories

I photographed this Horned Lark in January and still remember how cold lying on the ice was. :) I hope to get another chance to find some winter finch species this coming winter.

Super details. Exposure is perfect. Head angle is just right. Looking good!

Lovely warm plumage tones, Axel. Looks like you were lying in a hole in the ice to get that low angle.

very nice Axel, what a cool looking bird that we have on almost every back road around here during the winter months., but absolutly a difficult shot to get. Congrats.

Not sure it's a good idea trying to get frost bite in the "lower" extremities;) but definitely gave you a good shooting angle. Sharpness and exposure are great and nice BG. This might be the first time in my life that I say I can't wait for winter. Congrats

The details in this capture are outstanding and the slight blue/grey hugh in the BG really makes it pop. The light was surely good to you too!!

The photos you got in this series were awesome. Its not often that you get an unobstructed low angle on a Horned Lark! I share your optimism about finches this winter but unfortunately the 'winter finch report' made it sound like there were good crops up north and that we wouldn't see much of an eruption this season.

Lovely, incredible shot with the bird just right on the horizon and visible feet.
Can't wait for next winter series :)

I am still hoping for my first winter lark Axel. I have seen them many times around home but never when I had the gear in the car. I really like the low angle and the lighting in your shot. Well done!!!

I like the HA, and getting cold on the ice has paid off with the low angle. Good detail and exposure throughout, and love the eye. Well captured.
