These are great little birds, we have them in our garden but they are quite hard to photograph. I like the way the bird just pops out of the foliage and in fact, I would have been happy to see all the foliage out of focus.
Like the colour combination and the beak full.

Hi Hilary - the secret is to find their food source and then position yourself so that you have a good view. They will often return to the same perch - find a perch with a good clean BG that they land on and your are set.

Good advice Lance. I'd like to get more of our little birds but it takes planning. We had a couple of New Holland Honeyeaters nesting right beside our door but I couldn't figure out how to take any photos due to the position of the nest. If they come back this year I think I have it figured out. We managed to fledge 2 (well the parent birds did!).

This little guy is well seen Mr. Peters...I like the pop up pose, you have a good head angle and sharp eye, the color rendition is good...good show...

Lance, Beautiful framing. The BG colors are gorgeous and make your subject pop. Very nice detail and the meal is a bonus.

Like Richard I love the foreground and background in this image, Lance. It's a great capture - can you tell me what kind of bird it is?
    Thanks!
