This was taken recently at Half Moon Bay, CA. Timing was late afternoon with overcast sky and poor light. I pushed the ISO to 1600 and used betterbeamer. I liked the approaching pose with the fan tail; direct eye contact would have been nice. Settings were -

    40D, Sigma 50-500mm @ 500mm, Ex 580 + BetterBeamer, hand held
1/1000 sec, f/6.3, Mode: Av, Metering: Evaluative, Exp comp: 0, ISO: 1600, White balance: Cloudy

I did a bit of pp in adjusting levels, saturation, selective color, applied nr and usm. Your C&C will be apprciated.

Excellent shot Indranil, love the eyes, fan tail and wing position. You captured one of the best possible poses of the harrier. I also love the wing outlines. On my screen some of the finer plumage seems a bit soft, I might sharpen a bit more. Also the image would benefit from slight pop of contrast. Great work, TFS.

Cool pose, complementing BG and stare. I would give it a bit more room at the top and would try if sharpening the bird more brings out noise.

Great stare and pose with the fanned tail. Nice background. Perhaps some more space on top. JR

Thanks for all the feedback. Appreciate it a lot. Agree on the space requirement on the top and the more sharpening.
