Default Bad news for the red knots

Last year a judge in Delaware overturned its ban on horseshoe crab harvesting. Now New Jersey appears to be ending its. If you can get to Cape May in May, it may be one of the last chances to see the red knots the way this is going.

Sunday night on PBS there was a special on Nature about the plight of the Red Knot and the Horseshoe crab. It really was well presented on the life cycle of both species.

WHSRN is working on the solution together with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
    Hope they will succeed.

Went to a talk by Kevin Karlson last Thursday evening on Sanibel Island and in his
introductory remarks he said that he had just received word that the governor of New Jersey
was committed to reinstating the moratorium on harvesting horseshoe crabs for another two years.

the only problem is that there is no such ban on the delaware side of the bay. The delaware ban was overturned by a judge last year.
