This fellow only needs one leg to stand on. From the Salton Sea. This old boy is there every time I go and follows me around watching me get shots of the other birds. Pretty funny! :)

Converted in LR2 then refined in CS4. Evaluative metering mode used to establish exposure.

    50D, EF70-200mm f/2.8 + 1.4x @280mm
    Manual mode, f/5.6@1/2000 ISO 200 WB 5100K
AI Servo autofocus, HH no flash

Lucky you to have birds following you around Kerry. Love the pose and the whites look good. Might take a wee bit off the top if it were mine. Well done.

You have a good head angle and sharp eye contact Kerry, I like the pose...the whites are in check and the perch fits this fellow quite well...agree with a slice off the top and a tid bit off the right side...good show...looking forward to your next one...

Here he is, checking me out. :) I was shooting pelicans and I knew he was back there, waiting to make his move... :D

what a character! you gotta love this guy! agree with the above comments on your first image. great job on the exposure. I even like your second image too, minus the log thing behind him. your title and description really add to the image. looking forward to seeing more of this delightful bird.

How lucky of you to have bird following you around, good photo opportunity. You really have a good exposure on the whites while still have details in the black leg. The pose is great too, agree about a tighter crop.

Must be nice to have a pet egret! I like the image as presented although it wouldn't hurt to take some off the top.
