On Saturday, I had to take one of our injured rescued birds across the city to Taronga Zoo for more specialist veterinary care so I decided to have a look inside, as it's been 10 years since my last visit there.
One day I will go to Africa, but lenses and new camera body(ies) are the priority for now.
I was quite amazed at how inquisitive the little ape was at all things surrounding it and watched for a good half an hour wishing that I were on a wild savanna out there in the heart of Africa. :(
30D, 300/4, ISO 400, f/5.6, 1/320th, 80% of original. I wish the adult were not intruding, but framing was tough.
One point, if you were out on the savannah you would be unlikely to see chimps.... :)
I agree that the adult in frame is unfortunate but the baby's expression is lovely. It can be hard to photograph animals in captivity as you often can't move your position relative to the animals as much as you can in the wild. That's my experience, anyway.
Captivity or not, just love the look on that face. Excellent sharp detail captured Bro, and I think you nailed the exposure on the blacks. Not that it applies in this image, but being keen photographers, zoo's dont produce the best BG's for any animal. There's always a building or railing or some man made feature thats spoils the image. Having said that, its still great for a good walk around.
