Male Spotted Pardalote photographed in a local nature reserve. These birds are tiny foliage gleaners of eucalypt forest and woodland.

Canon 7D, EF500 f/4, + 1.4 tc, 580EE flash + bb, tripod with mongoose head, Evaluative, Av, fec -1 2/3, ISO 1600, f/7.1, 1/250. Cropped 57% of frame (17.9mpx -> 10.3 mpx), chromiance noise reduced in DPP, luminance noise reduced with Neat Image - twice on the background. I digitally pruned a second branch across top of frame.

I have never seen this bird before, it is a treat to watchnew species on BPn..Thanks for sharing.
Needless to say, this is a great catch. A little shake on the left leg is a little distraction to me..

Image sets well in the frame, great HA.

Image looks a little worked to me, the top lines of the bird seem too smooth/sharp and unnatural to me. The subject and the background seem separated, I assume due to layers and PS work? Beautiful bird and nice setting.

A difficult bird to photograph in my experience. Well executed. The digital pruning worked well as the background looks good.

Simon, lovely colours on the little guy, and the BG looks good to me. Well captured.

Nice one Simon - like the simple lines and the colour of the bird against the rest of the image.

    cheers
