Gail and I spent the end of September into the first few days of October on vacation. We spent one afternoon and one morning in Blackwater Wildlife Refuge and then several days in skyline Drive in Shenandoah NP. We had a great time despite the iffy weather. I m posting an image made after we hiked to the top of Hawks Bill Mountain. As you can see it was overcast and it was very windy. The days we were hiking we did a morning hike of about 4 miles and an afternoon 4 miler as well. We either went up 800 feet then back down or the reverse depending on whether our destination was a waterfall or mountain peak. Of course we carried our camera stuff.
Skyline drive was a good time for us. The last time we were there was in 1969 - the year after we were married. We didn't have $ for a honeymoon so a vacation one year later served the purpose. 40 year later! While the park mostly looks the same we have certainly changed.
Wow love these kind of images Ed and glad to hear it was a wonderful time for you both. It is such a treat to go to a place that you had visited many years before. Thanks for sharing .
Thanks for all the comments. It was interesting that we looked at some pictures we made in 1969 - a year after we were maried. I was still in serving in the Navy as a Corpsman, soon to go to Nam, when we took the original trip. We had to keep reminding ourselves that the young children we saw in the pictures were us!! Time goes by much too fast!!! ;)
