A few month ago I used the dup layer/ convert to B&W/find edges/ merge Soft Light mode on an image taken on the Texas City Dike. It was destroyed by Hurricane Ike a year later. When I took the photo, it had been a calm, very peaceful day.

Bill, I like the effect very much-it is well done. The first one has more of a peaceful mood to it, but the second one has brought out a bit more of the darks which I like and the HA (is better)but I do prefer the crop w/o the wood showing. Beautiful colors on the bay!

Hi Bill. Interesting image with nice effect and color. My choice is the 2nd without the wood showing.Nicely handled!

Very nice colors and composition, Bill. The second version has better details, contrast, and HA, but I do love the peaceful mood of the first one too. In that one, it looks like the pelican is meditating.

    Nice image and effect, Bill.

Personally I would have cropped about 3" off the left side. But...

    Your image ... Your vision.
