I found this kingfisher in perfect afternoon light with a perfect background during my December visit to the Kruger National Park. It was unfortunately slightly far away, so I used my 20D for extra reach and had to settle for this composition.

    Very nice, Isak!
Good exposure, clean composition, good sharpness and a beautiful subject. To nit pick a little, I'd crop two millimeters from the left to get rid of the unconnected branch tip.

Wish you could post it at 800 pixels, difficult to judge detail at this size.

Great Job Isak, beautiful image, the interesting cascading braches make it really attractive.

Agree about the tiny crop or even a quick mask would do.

Typo in the name, its Woodland.

Oopsie, thanks Robert and Fabs. I agree about the crop - will give it a try...

Great image and beautiful bird. I wouldn't change the crop, just make the little piece disappear. You can post images up to 800 pixels. Makes it easier to comment and enjoy. :)

A beautiful bird. I think you did about as well as possible given the distance.
