    A Dunlin loses his colors in wintertime. Bud thankfully there are some collerfull plands wich are a great substitute.;)

    Olympus E3, Zuiko Ed300 F2.8, Zuiko 2.0 converter, 600mm focuslenth, f7.1, 1/1000 sec, ISO400, 0 stop

    Ditto Peter on his light angle comments. The Dunlins do not "lose" their color in winter: they simply molt in gray feathers. BTW, this is a bird of the year in first winter plumage. Note that the median and lesser coverts have worn white fringes: those are left over from the juvenal plumage.

    Alexander I like the water droplet at the end of the bill and the colourful foliage (Spartina?) adds a nice touch.

    I like the contrast between the grey feathers and the colourful background. Angles and light mentioned. Droplet is a lovely touch.

    This was on the island of Texel Peter. At the site of the Waddenzee.
