I seem to be having trouble lately getting pictures that I'm satisfied with on the basics. Figured I better check my own "calibration" to be sure! How would you rate this picture in terms of subject sharpness? Thanks! Mark

    1/320 @ 5.6 (400mm) 400ISO - no processing, straight from camera - cropped about 50% (Converted in Canon DPP)

Hi Mark, The image looks a bit soft. Try shooting at a higher fstop...

Hi Mark - looks a bit soft to my eyes - trying opening up a bit, want to try and keep that shutter speed at 1 over the focal length (for a start anyhow) so here 1/400TH as a minimum. So either bump the ISO or open up if the lens you are using will allow it. You will also generally need to sharpen in PP.

    Keep em coming :)

Hi Mark, if this was converted in DPP then your default picture style has been applied as a form of pp.
Any reduction of the full size image will generally require some extra sharpening. IMO,
it is not possible to critique sharpness here not knowing in-cam ps settings.

Best to post a small piece of 100% crop and saved good quality and have it reduced and
sharpened by someone else. There is an unusual smoothness, but it does appear sharp
