Came across a flock of several hundred tree swallows at Sandy Hook this Tuesday morning, presumably taking a rest during migration. Most seemed to be in this transitional phase from juvi to adult. Light was beginning to get harsh. Could have cut the ISO. I boosted the exposure slightly in RAW transfer but may have counteracted that in Levels adjustment - one black area seems overly dark. Cropped about 25%.

    C&C appreciated.

Interesting colours on the swallow Bill. Nice low angle, and good feather detail captured. I would maybe lighten the eye a tad. The swallow pops well from the lighter BG.

Good-looking juvenile. I like the angle, BG and eye contact. I would tone down the whites on the neck and lighten the iris a bit. Maybe a slight crop off the top?

Bill, I saw swarms of them also but they were too far away for an ID. Nice capture on the beach. I like the pose details and the exposure looks good. Might take a small amount off the top.

Here's a repost. I have lightened the face and shoulder just a bit, darkened the neck, brightened the eye, and cropped. Thank you all for the helpful comments. Denise, I had to focus on these guys, and the warblers, since I found very few shorebirds on Tuesday morning. I hope you did better.

Bill, The repost looks good. I was hoping to go today but the winds were really bad.
