    Default Lone Kalahari Wildebeest

I'm having a hectic week but had to squeeze in a post here in BPN :)

This image was taken at the same scene of my previous B&W 'animalscape' "LONELINESS" (http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ad.php?t=46226).

This version is a closer composition (taken with a longer lens), and provides more detail on the wildebeest itself and showing the colour of the scene. The clouds were magnificent on that day - and by this time the sun had climbed a bit high but I still like the outcome.

Your critique much appreciated, as always...

    Techs:
    Canon 40D with 100-400mm L IS USM @ 100mm
    f4.5 @ 1/6400 SS @ ISO-400
    Exp +0.3
    Full frame, no crop

Really like the clouds and the extra sky. Really gives a sense of isolation. Would like to see a little more detail in the subject.

    I love the composition....real off-beat.

    thanks Ragoo, Dan & Harshad.

Dan - I tried to extract as much detail from the wildebeest as possible without picking up artifacts...

    Morkel,
I would have loved a narrow aperture here instead of the f4.5. F11 would have been good.

    Cheers,

thanks for the feedback Sabyasachi, Peter & Dave

Sabya - I agree on the aperture, but in the moment I totally forgot to check my settings as I wanted as many different compo's before the wildebeest decided to walk off the dune :)

Peter - here is a version with the FG toned down, thanks for the suggestion, it works well...

You seem to have an eye for these animalscapes mate. This is even better than your previous one. I really like the angle of looking up, the streeky clouds add so much, and I like the overall colours too. Great image.
