We are losing our light fast and fall colors are starting to creep in. Caught this guy getting some rest right after a dog fight across the lake with a GBH. I hated to disturb him but don't get the opportunity to get these guys that often. Not as clean as I hoped but I will turn my filter on low from now on, in these dark siuations.

HI Bill - Good looking bird - Light looks like it was against you here - some of your whites are a little up there - pushing 255 in some spots.
Would sharpen the bird a tad more and run some NR on the background.

I like the setting, eye contact and wide crop. There seems to be some lack of fine detail, is it a heavy crop?

My question was exactly going to be Axel's. Is it a large crop? The composition is exactly what it should be IMO. With more fine details, it would have looked better.

Thanks Lance, Axel and you guys for holding my feet to the fire. It was a very large crop and I didn't pay attention to the bumps I made in levels when I should be checking the curves. I am going to have to start doing a better job in conversion and not trying to reley on my subjective assesment. I am going to ease back on the crop and start from scratch in RAW and see if I can't do better.

I like the contrast between the dark foliage and the white bird. Sharpness could be a bit better?
