    Default Fall Leaves

I've been trying some compositions with fall leaves lately. In this case, I placed the red leaf on top of some green ones to create this comp. Any comments and suggestions would be most appreciated!

    f5.6 @ 1/100, ISO 200, -0.3 EV
Aperture priority mode, pattern metering, sunny WB
Processed in PS CS2; curves adjustment, selective color to adjust the reds, desaturated a tiny bit, cropped slightly, and darkened the edges a little

Lovely colours, great deail and textures in this Christopher. Flower and plant compositions are not my strong point. I can't suggest anything different and it looks fine to me.:)

    Well done.
A small point: My eye goes to the black, irregular spot (a hole, I assume) in the green leaf at upper right.
In future compositions, you might want to try having a leaf lacking such a significant "flaw" or distraction in a prominent position.
(For what it's worth, the black spot appears to be near a rule-of-thirds convergence point.)

Very nicely done, Christopher. I like the muted colors of this image. I have no problems with the imperfections in the leaf. Somehow felt, you could have arranged the leaves to avoid the dark tone at the top. TFS.

Neat image, Christopher. I like how you are experimenting with lining up the vision you have for the image. One thing, though...it feels like the focal point is on the top green leaf (to the right of the frame) and not so much on the top red leaf. Perhaps some selective sharpening on the red leaf will even that out? I also agree that the dark area at the top right of the frame pulls my eye - you might also do a selective levels adjustment at that one place to lighten that up a bit more.

I really like the darkness around the edges - very nice touch that is barely discernable but that helps keep my eyes in the frame.

Thanks Vida, Stuart, Ramesh, and Julie. Fully agree with your suggestions. I tried lightening the dark area at the top and did some selective sharpening on the red leaf. Let me know what you think.

I think those little changes made a big difference. Isn't it amazing how lightening a specific area can change the whole focus of the image? Great pp work, Christopher!

I like your composition, and the repost is a better version, although not much need for much improvement in OP. I almost envy you northerners for these beautiful photo opps!
