    Default Great egret silhouette

Another silhouette image from me. 40D; 300 f/4 non-IS. 1/1250. f/4. ISO 400. pushed exposure some in DPP. color temp adjustment in DPP. some minor spots removed using clone stamp. NR using neatimage.

I should have overexposed in camera itself...but I was setting myself up for the "catching fish" shot. I did get it actually.

Does this crop work? I am asking because the reflection is disturbed by the ripples. But I thought its still worth it.

There is a halo around the bird...but its not because of over-sharpening or over-contrast. tried pulling those sliders to the left. Can it be the light reflected off the bright white bird?

I did try some more NR but the ripples were losing their sharpness.

    Thanks in advance

    Kaustubh:

I like the overall effect. Yes the ripples distort the reflection, but I like their overall contribution. I might even try to include a bit more to the left to show more complete circles if you have them.
Open beak a plus, color temp pleasant.

If you have more to the left, could convert to more of a pano crop, with most of the reflection cropped off and extending the crop on the left to include more of the ripples.

The slight halo effect doesn't bother me.

    Cheers

Silhouette's against colourful BG's always work well. I would maybe take a bit more off the top.

I like the pano crop one, it works well but ditto Stuart. Good colour and atmosphere captured.

Thx everyone for encouraging comments and suggestions. I did try cropping off the reflection...but it was becoming too pano for my tastes.

I have another image where the ripples closer to the bird are better...but no open beak in it. Can't have it all, can we?
