    Default Excited Snowy

I was SO not prepared for an aggravated and excited Snowy Egret suddenly to show up right in front of me - with a 1.4 TC on a 40D with the 500F4...

Tried to make the best of it - a portrait. Cropped from the horizontal.

    Thanks, JR

That's quite a spray of feathers, very sharp around the eye too.

Killer hairdo brother, agree about the little more space around and a bit tone down of the whites on the neck, but a beautiful image indeed, congrats..

Excellent sharpness on the hairdo. I would not mind a square crop on this one.

Looks great John! Like how you achieved this despite the limitations with your gear at the time. :)

Nice light, BG, and exposure, I like the crested feathers. I agree about toning down the neck a tad.

    Keep them coming.

Thank you all for the kind feedback. I am bit surprised about the suggestion to tone down the whites on the neck as the whites are in the 220 - 230 range for RGB. Also, if I look at the histogram and adjust the white point in levels the neck area only becomes blown when I move the slider well into the histogram. There are a few blown pixels in the image but those are around the face.
