    Default Ruddy turnstone with goodies

From two summers ago. Challening image due to the side light, but as I lay there on the beach, he walked right up to me, so I tried to make the best of it. The beach was cut and the bright at the top is a wave breaking.

Thanks for looking and for your comments.

Looks like you did your best with the direction of the light.

Very pretty sidelighting Grace and I like the whole feeling of this capture. Interesting composition and I know more detail would be nice in the chest area and right side but I find this very pleasing as is. Thanks for sharing !

Beautiful composition. It is a beautiful bird! In such a situation, I would try to fill flash with a B.B. at -2/3 stop.

    Hi Grace,

I like the habitat. Looks like you were photographing this bird from the side angle with shows a lot of shadows. Fill flash would of helped you with those shadows but I sometimes like the warm and dark feeling of an image. With that said, you did well with the exposure and low angle.

looks great as is Grace, a fill flash would leave it unnatural looking inho., nice detail, and setting.

I like the look of this one grace. Although you had almost back light, it' so soft that it looks good. I know the bird is on a slope, but a tiny CCW rotation will give it more stability to the eye, not much, just level the shoulders a bit.

    Very nice!
