    Default Sunrise Silhouette

I got up this morning and went to my local pond. I attempted some silhouettes.(my first time trying!) I got 3 that I felt were keepers. One I posted in OOTB since our theme was peaceful images. Comments and advice appreciated.

I was thinking his head could be angled a bit more towards me. I left the feather on his bill-I liked it.

I like the mood here a lot. I too like the little feather on the beak. I'd like to see it a bit darker. I tried a couple of things and came up with a slightly modified version. Just a touch of saturation in the water color, and a small targeted curves adjustment.

    Nice image.

Very nicely done Denise. Love the silky smooth look to the water. The repost does boost the colour of water a bit, and I am finding that colours generally are a matter of taste and preference. Both are very nice. Agree about the slight head turn. Good for you. Dave

I like both presentations. The feather on the beak is great! It is hard to sharpen silhouettes you did well Denise!

Nice pose, saturation, and colors. I think I prefer your version. Could it use a bit of CCW rotation?

I prefer the first one, but both are nice. Nice work for the first try! I would have liked a little more reflection.

I like the light and mood and particularly the foreground. I would darken the bird some more.

Like the water colors and the COMP. I would like to see the SILH truly black. I am sorry that I never made it to Sandy Hook. Maybe in DEC we can meet at Barnegat. I have never been there.

First thing I noticed was the feather, LOVE it, makes this a bit different. I think that I'd like the water line and the bird less centered vertically in the image, maybe take a bit off the bottom? Hey, keep me in mind for Barnegat!

Great image. Feather on the beak, composition and exposure. Wished for more sharpness.

Denise...loved the mood and the low angle. I also have started doing a lot of silhouettes recently. But I dont know a good way of sharpening without creating halos...so I just dont sharpen :-)

Hi Denise, seems like you are a natural at everything thing you try. Amazing colours, and a good touch with the feather. If I had to change anything, I would maybe take a bit off the bottom. Still, a very fine image as is, and congrats.

I hope that I can find the time to make it to NJ. Never been to Barnegat.
