    Question Hummingbird w/ Obscured Flower?

First time poster here, go easy on me!

Shot on a very overcast day (ISO 1600), this was the best break in the clouds I got. Bird was only feeding in the open for short periods of time too, then disappearing into a tree.

How would others approach the post-processing here? Best to just completely clone out the flower?

I've used my standard post-processing technique for RAW: Bump in saturation, NR done on full image because of high ISO, low opacity layer of High Pass sharpening. I also tried to smooth out uneven tones in the background a bit, but perhaps I could have done that better.

    Thanks!

    Exif:
    Camera: Canon EOS 40D
    Exposure: 0.001 sec (1/1250)
    Aperture: f/6.3
    Focal Length: 700 mm
    Exposure: 0.00
    ISO Speed: 1600
    Exposure Bias: +2/3 EV
    Flash: Off, Did not fire

Welcome to BPN, Dave! Nice first post. I like the wing position, BG and flower. The leaf in front of the flower is a bit distracting and I would sharpen the bird more. I also wish the head were angled toward us. Keep them coming!

Welcome Dave. Pretty good first post. Axel provided some good comments and covered most of my comments. I would only add that I would move your copyright to one of the lower corners so it didn't distract from the flower. As far as your question on wether or not to remove the flower, my personal preference would be to leave it. Yes the the leaf in front of the flower is a bit distracting but, the inclusion of the flower provide a story/purpose.

Welcome to BPN! I agree with the advice above, and might consider making the black border smaller as it is a bit distracting. I would also suggest running NR only on the BG, even if the bird is noisy, because the noise reduction will destroy a lot of the fine details.
