Default Rad-tailed taking off in glory

Red-tailed hawk showing off his unchallenged might and glory. We were stalking this guy or a while, for a while he seemed to have disappeared when he made a sudden come back for unsuccessful dive, the gopher was spared for the evening.

    EXIF: Nikon D700 with 200-400 VR + 1.4X TC @ 550mm, f/7.1 1/1600sec ISO 1600 no noise reduction. SW: Capture NX2.

Very nice capture Arash. Good colour, comp, exposure and detail.
I think the eye can do with a bit of TLC.

Arash, very lovely flight pose and I like the semi-busy way the BG looks. Exposure is good and nice detail at such a high ISO. I would darken his pupil to make it stick out a bit. Congrats

Good exposure, pose, and habitat. The pupil on the eye needs to go all black - you will see a big difference on this image's impact once you do that. I'd also be tempted to raise the colour temp just a wee bit to take advantage of all those golden colours.

Excellent capture, Arash. Great exposure. I like the pose and the light. There seems to be a good bit of raptor activity in Half Moon Bay. I plan to go out there this week. Hopefully the raptors will be around!

Here is the hawk after eye doctor!

Indranil, this year there is an excess rodent population so raptor activity is great and is expected to remain so until mid November. You should check it out.
