    Default Vermilion Flycatcher

Saturday at the Gilbert Riparian I happened upon this little guy who was posing for his picture.

You got some nice colors and feather detail here, but light direction is not ideal and BG is bright while the eye is dark, HA can be better too. in Backlit situations like this it's often better to tone down the BG and try to brighten the bird. Nevertheless it's a nice photo and thanks for sharing.

I'd love to see this species sometime. Sharpness and angle look good. I would lighten the eye and it looks as if there is a magenta cast. Have you installed the latest firmware version that was supposed to take care of this problem?

Nice specimen. I like the feather details a lot. The OOF BG leaves would have worked for me if the twig had not cut across the bird. 1/160 at 400mm on a crop camera....the sharpness is quite impressive I must say. I have not seen the bird so my comment abt the color might not be right. Is the back supposed to be black/grey? I see some reddish hues there.

Cute little bird. Nice of him to pose for you - I do wish it would have also turned it's head a bit more for you. I also see a magenta cast on the bird's back and wings - I do not recall seeing this on its plumage (mind you, I have only seen photos of this species). I find fill-flash works well with birds sitting in shade combined with a brighter BG.
