    Default Theme: Peaceful Paddle

The most peaceful moment I have ever experienced was during a rest break while paddling on Caddo Lake. I pulled up at Goat Island and snuggled into my mat on a soft bed of leaves and moss. The only sounds I heard were the birds softly singing and the gentle lap of the water against the shoreline. My face was shaded from the fading light of evening by the shadows of the cypress knees.

I ran the photo through DAP Realism, blended with the original and reduced the effect on the kayak. I added a slight vignette and a frame.

Patti, It's always nice when an image can take you back in time to a nice day like you have described. Very nice painterly feeling to the BG. My only thoughts would be to tone down some of the blues in the image a bit. I like the soft green of the water.

Nice painterly look with the kayak placed well within the scene.

    Thanks all.

It does look very blue here on the forum, but not in Photoshop. I don't know what is happening with the colors. I saved as sRGB just like I always do. With both on my screen at the same time, Photoshop on left side of screen and forum on right side of my screen, they do look very different. I'll try to reproduce here ...

Patti, Is this posted in Adobe RGB colorspace. Those without color managed browsers will see a slightly different color profile. It is best to post in sRGB for the web.

this image IS posted in Adobe RGB colorspace......

Nice Caddo scene Patti, water sure looks low now.
For me a scene less focused on the complimentary colored kayak and more
on the scene would let me more see the peaceful setting

Denise, Thanks for the help. I always use sRGB since I hardly ever print anything. On the rare occasion when I do print, I switch to aRGB, so I was worried that maybe I switched and forgot to go back, but when I checked the color space I see that it is s.

I need to go through everything and see if I can figure out what is going on. Strange.

Dave, Thanks. Hmmmm. It is in aRGB? I don't know how. I hardly ever save in aRGB and I would have to go out of my way to do it. This is really perplexing.

look at your screen shot....see the photoshop title bar.....RGB/8*

the * tells you that you are outside your sRGB workspace.
Anything other than sRGB will get the *.

If RGB#, then it in untagged RGB
If RGB/8....then it is embedded sRGB

just be sure to "convert" the image profile and not change your workspace profile

Uhhhh. Okay. Now I'm thoroughly confused. And I thought I had this stuff figured out. Back to the books.

Thanks Dave. That's a heck of a lot more than I knew before.

always just goto "edit/convert to profile".
In the screen shot you posted, you can check that box to give a warning
that you are outside working colorspace if that will help. But easiest just to watch the title bar.
Also look down at the bottom of your window where it shows uncompressed file size, you
can open up a window with that little arrow and set to show color profile, like in my
    first post screenshot above

Dave, I will change that little window at the bottom from size (which I never look at) to color space. That will help me remember to "convert to profile"! Thanks so much for taking the time to edit my screen shots and explain this so that I could understand. I really appreciate it!

Thanks much to all that have commented - Denise, Harshad, Dan, Dave M, Paul, Christopher and Indranil.
