    Overcast and light rain.
    Nikon D3, 500mm, f/6.3, 1/800, -1.0ev, ISO 1600, handheld.
Cropped just a little, desaturated the blown out reds and some sharpening of the eye.
Would love to hear what you think.
    Thanks in advance, Tommy

Hi Tommy- What a huge treat to see such a suburb Hawaiian endemic! This image shows how to present the habitat without distracting from the subject- well done!. The composition is super as is the light and colour. The water droplets are a big bonus. The only thing I might consider is toning down the bright spot above the bird.

What a spectacular hawaiian bird. It is probably endangered too. Ditto John here, just the right amount of habitat. I like the misty/rainy mood. I think you might actually be able to increase the saturation of the reds a little, and give them more pop, without losing any detail.

    Keep them coming!

this is posted in Adobe RGB colorspace. Those without color managed browsers
will see muted colors as Aidan noted about the reds. It still needs some pop, but
the difference is apparent(to non color managed browser)

here is "converted" to sRGB....the best for all web posts
    Nice image BTW!!

I would like to see more of this bird if you have any. He is pretty cool.

Like the inclusion of habitat with the water drops.

Can you provide a name to the plants ?

    Mike,
I have been chasing these birds for a while now. They do not hold still very long, and can be very shy. They are endangered on Oahu, but here on the Big Island they have a fairly stable population. The tree he is in is an Ohia, Metrosideros polymorpha, or Ohia lehua. He is one of several endemic honeycreepers of Hawaii. I will have a few more coming soon I hope. Thank you for your interest.

Excellent capture of a fabulous bird - I especially like the bird's obvious interest in the flowers, and their shared colours.

Hey Tommy, that is one sweet image. I love the complimentary colours between the bird and the foliage, and think you've done a great job framing the bird. The water droplets are a huge bonus. And what a cool looking bird!
