    Australian Pelican photographed near Nowra, New South Wales.

    Canon EOS 7D, EF 70-200mm f/4 IS, 580EX flash, Av, AutoISO, ISO 250, 1/200, f/8, EC +2/3, FEC -3. Full frame, eye lightened a bit and catchlight enhanced. Raw converted via DPP to PS.

    I wish you could've gotten a little higher, but I have never seen this Pelican species before and I think is the most wonderfull of all!! Please post some full body images :)

    Nice detail in this shot (water beading on neck is a nice touch) and the flash work and exposure looks spot on.
    If it was mine I would add a bit of saturation to the pink parts of the beak. Just a thought.

    Good portrait, and I like the subtle colouring. I too like the water beeding. I may raise the colour temp a tad here.

    I cast my vote for a higher angle as well. The light and detail are magnificent.

    Using a longer lens would have given you a less steep-appearing angle of view, which is what I find noticeable. Lovely details indeed. :) If it were mine, the two flash spots at the bill tip would be gone. :)

    I think it's a cool perspective and the details are really nice. I like the soft blue complimentary BG.
