    Default Canon 7D ISO 800

Here's an ISO 800 image that I've used my normal workflow on. I'll also be posting a 100% crop of the straight RAW to JPG conversion with Lightroom adjustments only (no sharpening or NR though). My initial impression is that the noise pattern is much finer with the 7D than with the 50D, and that there's quite a bit more detail in the RAW files. More field testing to come this week.

Here's a 100% crop as described in the OP.

Thanks for posting this, especially the 100% crop is very interesting. If the noise is finer, this could make a big change for the better compared with the 50D.

Hi Doug, I too am loving my 7D!

Long story short: computer crash - no LR or PS for a couple of weeks.

I understood that Adobe had not released a "fix" for LR for the 7D to do conversions; did you do the conversion in LR?

    ??
    Cheers, Jay

Hi Jay. Lightroom 2.5 will process and convert 7D RAW files, although they haven't finalized the conversion process. That'll happen in an update.

Thanks for the sample, the IQ looks good. Image wise, you might try a bit of CCW rotation.

    Hi Doug,
7D RAWs do look better than the 50, however I wasn't lucky with AF at all (thread here) Did you try any BIF against a BG other than sky yet?
