This is a shot of Kilauea Volcano steam plume on the Big Island from the rim of Haleakaka Crater on Maui. I used Brush Stokes filter to soften the image and colored Spotlight filter to create the effect.

    Enjoy!

I like the orange color rendered along with the interesting cloud formations. IMO I would crop half off the shadowed area and about 40% of the sky.

Nice looking image and color tones. I'm still seeing some( pixelization sp?) The border looks good.

Thanks all for viewing and comments. Appreciate it.

Denise, I don't see that on the image. I ran another Noise Ninja on it, but think you may be seeing the Dry Brush filter effect???

I prefer the current cropping, of the image, as the clouds on the top frame the plume and the crater interior has some highlighted areas that balance that out. Thanks for the comments however.

I've attached a revised image that attempts to show the crater highlights, though again it is not as good as the original rendering. :(

Mark, It's not dry brush marks. I'm referring to the square looking artifacts in the BG esp. at the top. This usually happens from a large JPEG compression or heavy crop or considerable change in color to the BG. I would suggest that you work on your images in 16 bit if possible.(sometimes w/ the filters you need to be in 8bit)
