    Default Eyelash Viper

From a Costa Rica trip several years ago. These are venomous snakes, and they are quite beautiful. This was shot with the 100mm Canon macro lens and is full frame as presented.

    Canon 40D, 100mm f/2.8 macro, f/18, 1/160, ISO 200, manual exposure, FAML, hand held

You were a bit too close for me Doug. But it definitely has a wonderfully colorful camo going for it. The black background really accentuates the wonderful colors. Very nice image.

    Doug,
    What is FAML?

I guess this fellow can easily blend in with the forest leaves and vegetation. A moss covered branch would have been great. Initially, I had difficulty in locating its eye. :D One can imagine how it would be in the forest floor. Like the details and the pose in this image.

    Cheers,

Super shot Doug. Amazing camo on this. As mentioned, way close for a 100mm. Nicely done.

Doug, lovely snake (if that's not an oxymoron ;))
the black BG accentuates it nicely, but I can imagine myself searching for this fellow intensely if the photo was taken on the forest floor :)

Hi Doug, The black bg makes for very dramatic lighting and colors and I too, had to look to find the eye---good camo on his part.

FAML means flash as main light. Sorry for the confusion.

I like how the black background really brings out the snake. Beautiful colors in the snake as well.

Beautiful snake Doug. I also like the composition and BG.
