Backlighting can often provide dramatic results. I watched this sow and her cub walk the shore and waited for her to hit the light at the point, choosing the dramatic backlighting instead of going around to the other side for frontal lighting. Note- it is important when shooting a silhouette to make sure the subject is easily identifiable.

    Absolutely beautiful capture Chas,
I love the mood of this image. Great warm lighting, calm water, and the mist is a nice bonus.

Everything is just right, here, peaceful and serene. I really like the light hitting the treeline.

Another winner Chas. Composition here is outstanding. I really like how the silhouette is further enhanced by the strong side-lighting as well.

superb animalscape Chas! love the fact that it's indistinguishably a bear, as you said, as well as the surroundings.

Really nice. I like the arrow of light vegetation jutting into the water as well as the fading light on the top of the distant treeline.
