    Another shorebird portrait, this one from last Spring. I saw my first Sanderling for this fall last weekend with some Dunlin, and Semipalmated Plovers, all of which were frustratingly skittish for my 400mm.

    50D, 100-400 at 400
    1/800, f/5.6, ISO 400
    HH, moderate crop

    Aidan:

    Sharp, well exposed, nice detail in feathers. Nice HA, soft light.
    I might give it a bit more space on top.

    Its your picture, so you get to make the choice on crop. I just stated how the image struck me. :)

    Great detail and comp. I wonder about lightening the eye slightly and removing the speck on the cheek if ethics allow. Thanks for sharing.

    Loved it. The textures, the light, the exposure, comp, BG and detail are all A+ to me.
