    Default BCNH in flight

This is from last evening... settings were

    40D, Canon 70-200 f4 + 1.4x @ 280mm hand held
1/2500 sec, f/8 Mode: Av Metering: Evaluative Exp comp: -1/2 ISO: 400

Workflow includes adjustment to levels, saturation and selective colors. Reduced bg noise and applied selective sharpening. All C&C will be appreciated.

Wonderfull light, detail sharpness, com, colors and species. I wish for a better wing position and I would suggest to tone down the sky a bit as it looks too blue on my screen. Very nice though.
    Congratulations!

Indranil...excellent work with a small lens. Doing BIF with a 1.4x with a 40D is not easy. I struggle all the time.

I think its a little soft. But I'd attribute it to your lens. 70-200 is a little soft at the long end...at least mine is plus the 1.4x. Your choise of f/8 was excellent here. You might want to try sharpening just the eye a little more. The light angle is perfect. And the placement of bird in the frame is also spot-on IMO.

I like the eye contact and angle and only wish for a slightly better wing position.

Perfect eye contact. Wing position could be better, and I agree about toning down the blue of the sky a bit.

Thanks for all the comments. Appreciate it a lot. Here is a repost with toned down background and the blue cast...

Kaustubh, thanks a lot for the feedback. I quite like the 70-200 f4 IS with 1.4x especially when birds are close. Artie also mentions this in his latest bulletin. I switched to far focusing range which seems to be faster in focusing.

The repost is much better, though I would like to see a better wing position, and angle. Noce light, action, and exposure.
