I shot this just outside the Monterey Bay aboard a "Monterey Seabirds" pelagic boat last weekend. If you haven't experienced pelagic BIF photography, you are missing a challenge!! The boats throwing you around, the birds are flying this way and that, it's foggy one minute and the next it isn't. And, if you are lucky, you aren't getting seasick:eek::eek:. Fun!! PP'ed in ACR and CS3. C&C welcome.

Hi Dan sounds like quite a challange. Super capture, the light angle not totally in your favour but as you explained just to capture the bird is challenge. Comp wise he is a tad too central for my liking. Super flight angle.
That is fantastic, I like the whole thing, the light is magical, pose, sharpness and details are awesome, I thought that is gonna fly in to my room its so realistic...;-) Congratulations!!!!
I have been thinking of taking that boat! I have to tie myself up rather than going overboard... Nice image in the given condition. Great light and details.
Looks a bit like the Cory's Shearwater on this side. I like the gliding pose and sharpness and would tone down the whites a bit more. Too bad the head is angled away from you. I'd love to go on a pelagic trip on the west coast sometime.
