What is semi-palmation anyway... Just kidding, you can see it here nicely on the raised foot.
It is a webbing between the toes, in this case only half-way, hence the name.
I had difficult side light here, so I used fill flash to lighten the shadows.
I didn't clean the beach since I like the rocks, CC and opinions appreciated.
I really wish the bird had clean bill, no luck there. I didn't dare to clean it in PS.
Taken at Revere beach last Sat, the numbers of birds there are going down so soon
I'll have to change subject from shorebirds to other migrants.
Nice use of fill flash llija! Cool to see the "semi-palmation"! The foot must have been moving during capture, hence the slight softness, compared to the tack sharp feathers! I would remove the black rock below the bird tail and leave the rest of the stuff:).
I like the pose. The head angle looks good to me and the raised foot adds interest in my opinion. I see good detail in the bird (foot mentioned above). Good job with the fill flash. I find the bigger out of focus rocks/shells to be a distraction. Thanks for sharing.
I like the angle, walking pose, and fill flash really helped. It's amazing that there is still motion blur at this shutter speed. I might remove the one spot touching the end of the tail.
Great low angle, and I love the walking pose. I like the inclusion of rocks, but like Axel I would remove the one touching the tail. You might want to tone down the brightest white just above the leg.
Excellent position of bird, paticularly with the raised foot clearly showing the sem-p's. Very good sharpness and feather detail and like Axel I can't quite understand why there is motion blur on that foot at that shutter speed - could the slight softness be caused by lack of depth of field? The nearside of the bird is pin sharp but at f5.6 the far leg could just be going out of the field of critical sharpness.
