Again lucky that this Greater Yellowlegs went straight to an appealing "perch". The water all around it is only a couple of inches high - so no problem to step off:D A distracting feather was eliminated from the rock and its reflection, and other minor imperfections tidied up in the water.
Canon 40D + 100-400L @400mm, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/3200s., f/7.1, ISO 640 (one of those rare times I forgot to check all settings), -0.7 EC, natural light, handheld, about 80% full frame.
I like the setting, reflections in the water and attentive pose. Exposure control and sharpness look good, too. It looks as if you could have gotten away with ISO 200. Oh, well... :)
Having seen a yellowlegs only once, I am very jealous of all the great images of them posted recently. Sweet light, setting, BG, and exposure. It doesn't get much better than this.
This is an wonderful capture. The colors and light are superb. Love the BG colors, although would QM the dark spots out for purposes of printing. Lovely details.
