    D3, 600, ISO 500, f5.6, 1/2500, 0 EV comp.

Got this one a couple of nights ago in evening light.
They pull and swallow this food source so quick that with a burst of frames @ 10 FPS on my D3, this is the only frame showing the food morsel.

Such perfect timing Alan and just the right number of frames! I love the light and the backdrop of the water. Well done!!

Great catch Alan. Super techs. Looks like a poor Syngnathid that got gulped.

Great angle, sharpness and the food item - whatever it is :) - adds to it. It could go a bit darker for my taste.

I like the water and the blue BG. Image is nice and sharp. I like the wind swept feathers.

    Alan:

Very nice image, fine techs, timing, shooting angle. I do agree with Axel about the brightness of the image. I tried a version with the midtones pulled down just a bit, and thought it improved the already fine shot.

Great low angle and feeding behaviour. I love the water streaking down the morsel. I guess it could go darker on the midtones, but for me I wish for a slightly better HA...although I realize that with such a "rare" capture beggars can't be choosers :-)

Ditto Daniel. Great low angle, timing, and sharpness. The light seems relatively harsh considering what time of day it was.

Alan nice low angle and shallow DOF in this image. The food morsel and the water drop at the end of the bill really makes this image.

Very nice, love the plumage and bill, the action is just excellent,
both the morsel and the water drop. It is interesting how we are always fascinated
    with stopped action...

A bit more of a headturn would have made this perfect IMHO. The low angle, BG, prey item, colours and water drops make this awesome already!
