This is the first time I have ever walk up to a redtail hawk as most of the time they fly when your 100 yards from them. It flew in and watched me packing my jeep as getting ready to start shooting whitetail photos and had my big lens pack. Let me walk right up to him and shot a few fast frames before it flew off.

Dennis I like the composition and the head turn here. The colours seem a bit off on my monitor however. Did you really boost the saturation or vibrance?

A loverly and richly colored juvenile. (That is likely why it was so tame....) It seems that the sharpest focus is on the back rather than on the eye. Where and how did you focus?

    I do like the COMP.

I like the pose and the bg that is not totally blurred but depicts some of the wooded area to be made out so that it tells where this raptor thrives.

The slight colour cast (green) may perhaps be from the reflection from the canopy cover?

Very nice composition and good details. I'd suggest toning down the greens and lightening the bird.

Thanks everybody for your help. Artie I look at my camera and had Af set to servo instead of one shot as this was a grab and shoot so I did focus on the eye then compose the photo but the focus went back to where ever. Glad you saw that. I did tone down the greens but will do more as this bird was on the edge of a swamp and we still have lots of green. Thanks again everybody.
