Crop might be a little tight on both ends and the eye could use some work. BG seems over sat to me and distracts from subject - nice picture of a beautiful bird.

Techs seems good, I like a lower ISO, but thats me.

Too tight as Jeff mentioned, and the high ISO is creating some noise that could be dealt (assuming you shoot in RAW). The colors are appealing.

Agreed on too tight. I think Roman himself would cringe too. :) Like the bird and wish for a slightly better HA, though it's not all that bad here. I think CW rotation is badly needed. Looks just a little dark to me. Thanks for sharing. :)

I really like this a lot! Beautiful colors! Personally I see no problem with head angle or size in the frame. My only question would be why you used ISO 800 when you had enough light for 1/2000 sec.

    Hi Ed
    Why iso 800?
This was taken right around sunset when the light was fading fast. The light on the pond also varried from spot to spot, so 2 feet away out of this sunlite spot--I could lose 2 or 3 stops of light.
Also with a 500mm lens and 1.4 teleconverter with a 1.6 crop body leaves me with an equalivant 1140mm lens. 1/the focal length gives a shutter speed of 1/1140. All this handheld! So 1/2000 was nice to be able to use

I find the BG colors appealing, but they do overwhelm the bird. Flash on the bird would have helped, or perhaps some lightening of it in post processing? Agree it's a bit too tight, but overall an appealing image.
