Does anyone out there use a vest when taking pictures?
I am looking to buy one just don't know where to start.
I am looking for one to use while taking pictures of my kids
    while they are playing sports.

I dont have one and the only reason I'd want to get one is to pack in more memory cards, batteries... cleaning kit?

I also feel it looks a bit oddish a hold over from the days of film when you really needed more than pockets

    Here's a good start for photovests. http://www.vestedinterest.com/
While heavier than some of the competition, these are the most rugged, well constructed available, imo and they are custom fit. I have one, albeit I don't use it that often for the type of photo work I do.

I just bought a $50 Campco Humvee vest from B&H for $50---The first one I owned fell apart after 8 years of hard use. The vested interest vets are really nice but are in a different category pricewise..

    Hi Kevin,
I just asked this question and I too was told about Vested Interest. The Magnum Model. If you have a special size you can have it made to order. Lot of accessories to add if you want for additional $$$. I just ordered the medium, I am tired of searching for stuff and hauling my bag around when I could just have the vest. Also if you want to go really light there is the Black Rapid R5 strap. Instead of putting in a cell phone in one of the pouches you could put in a battery. Just got mine and I love it.

In 2004 I bought a Domke from B&H. It was $110 then and is now 127. It is a jacket vest combo. The sleeves are zippered on and can easily be removed to make it a vest.

I wear the Domke Photogs vest when shooting. For me having the giant pockets to hold teleconverters, extension tubes, lens and body caps, etc... is of great value.

    Hi Kevin,
I use both the Photogs by Domke and the Magnum model from Vested Interest. They are both very good quality. The Vested Interest is a tad more rugged...Either one, you can't go wrong...:)

A good quality fly fishing vest will likely be cheaper and there are more styles and options to choose from then a dedicated photo vest.

I use a Hummer combat vest. It is light, mostly mesh, I live in Texas, and has a lot of pockets. Can easily carry multiple cards, filters, flash, and a couple of extra lens, especially wides and it was under $50
