    Default Little Egret at Dawn

Just been on holiday at the coast. (South UK). Finally met up with some Little Egrets and this was my favorite image. Shot at F7.1 to try to maximise detail captured.

Would be grateful for any help/advice. Got lots of similar images still to process

    Kind regards.

Caught at just the right moment to make a really interesting composition. The crop seems right to me. I would only take out the floating feathers. Great job!

Excellent exposure, good details and sharp reflection in the water. Excellent image with an interesting pose, really like this one.

You can see the beak in the reflection but not in the real bird.

Thanks for the replies. Got really lucky with the flat calm pool.

Looks like a tough exposure and I think you did well. I like the feathers I think they add a nice touch.

Hi Stuart - Like the pose and the reflection - Exposure looks good. Not much I would change here - I would leave the floating feathers in.
Perhaps a little more space at the bottom.
    Big Congrats :)

    Hi Stuart,
I like this as presented, the floating feathers do not bother me, they are part of the action taking place...I like the reflection and the color rendition is sweet...good show...

Although the reflection is very nice, I would really like this with it cropped out, placing greater emphasis on the actual bird as well as those feathers in the water. The bg is very nice.

Thanks for all the comments. I think the feathers help as a reference to help with the large area of water.

Connie, I did wonder about a big crop but was worried about a lack of pixels as it's about a 50% crop to remove the reflection?

    kind regards.

    Hello Stuart,

I think you've created a beautiful photo here, with this unusual pose and the reflection which reveals a bit more of the bird than the direct view. I really like it as presented - I wouldn't change a thing.

    Congratualtions.

Thanks for the comments and help. Had this printed to 16x20 and now resides in my spare room/office.

    Kind regards.
