Better late than never - my "blur" at last!!!:D
I tried an in- camera blur, although I had to use a flash as it was raining and the fowls were under shrubs, I tried keeping focus on the eye and panning as the bird moved.

Good skill in getting the eye sharp while the rest of the picture blur. The blur on the head, due to feather pointing to the left, seem like the bird is getting blown away backward by a strong wind. However the raise foot forward suggest a motion of moving forward, which is kind of contradict to the head blur. I might crop the image to just only the head area.
Hi Jeni - well done on the sharp eye - this is sort of a static blur - in that the bird doesn't seem to be going anywhere - For my personal tastes would have liked to see some indication that the bird was moving in a forward direction. The spots make it hard to look at after a little while.
