This may sound a little odd but ...

The general advice is to leave room for the bird to fly. In this case, anticipating flight, I would leave the room in the lower right corner rather than primarily to one side.

The reason for this is that, were I anticipating one of the vultures to take off, it would do so by dropping off the branch. That's just their normal launch. Were it a cardinal or jay, I would leave the space top right since those birds launch upward.

Otherwise, I think you have the picture spot on. Black or White birds are often difficult to expose correctly but you have it spot on.

    Hi Chris,
sorry to correct you, but the photo shows definetly two Hooded Vultures (Necrosyrtes monachus), and not Lappet-Faced Vultures (Torgos tracheliotus) - you can differenciate the two species very well on their bill-size and their overall-size.

    With my best wishes
    Tassilo

and sorry for my bad english

Good duo Chris and good flash technique. Nice sharpness and head angle/eye contact.

Hi Chris, I love the image just as it is. I would not change the crop or the COMP. (The birds are looking more up than down...) I love the perch and f/9 did a great job of getting both birds pretty much sharp. And I love the soft light, the excellent use of fill flash, and most especially, the killer perch. And I almost forgot the best part: two perfect head angles!
