Taken on Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, Kenya late in the day. The original image was quite blue so I used a gradient mask to improve the warmth of the sky.
Taken on a Canon 30D, EF 75-200mm lens at 200mm.
    f4 at 1/350 (+0.5); ISO 640

Hilary, a handsome shot. I like the HA and composition, and the detail on the beast.

I like the composition on this one. The sky color really helps with the over all look. Was you lens by chance a 70-200 mm, there is an 80-200 but it is a very old lens.

Good placement of the giraffe, beautiful sky and great details on the giraffe which help bring out its skin pattern more. Great image!! One thing that distract me a bit is the OOF grass in the foreground, but that just might only be me.

Bill, yes I used 70-200mm lens, I meant to include that detail.

I need to pay more attention to my dof in many of my images … thanks for all the comments.

Hi Hilary - Like this a lot - lovely colours in the sky - good pose and HA on Mr Giraffe.
The OOF grass in the foreground is a little distracting - would have been good to see the feet.
    Good show :)

Lance, in this situation by moving I would have ended up with lots of hills and vegetation in the background, in your opinion would it be best to leave a relatively clean background or go for the feet?

In that case - I would do what you have - as Mr Jagger once said "You Cant always get what you want"
